Intro To Weaving on a 4-Shaft Loom: July and August

Instructor: Lois Gaylord

In this four-week introductory class you will delve into multi-shaft (multi-harness) weaving by setting up and weaving a sampler. Lois will guide you through all the steps of warping the loom and weaving a variety of fabric structures, and then cover finishing techniques and tips for planning your next project.

We use the Louet Erica 12" 4-shaft table loom, with all the functions of a four-harness loom, but lightweight and portable so you can take it home to work between classes. Class loom usage is included and required for this project. We will require a credit card or check to be held while the loom is out between classes.

Two skeins of Berroco Pima 100, shuttle, reed hook, and handouts are provided in class. You are welcome to bring additional weft yarn for experimenting.

You will need to bring:

  • Pencil and notebook
  • Measuring tape and scissors, if you have them
  • Lunch or snacks (there are also several options in the neighborhood for a quick bite)

No prior weaving experience is necessary. Students will borrow shop looms during class, and materials for the sampler will be provided.

Class is held at our Lynnwood location. Find directions and parking information on our directions page.
