Weaving on a Simple Loom
Instructor: Samantha Loftin
A simple frame loom is the perfect loom for expressing your creativity! Play with color, texture and dimension in your weaving- the only rule is that nothing can fall off. Almost any material can be used: yarn, roving, cloth, jute, beads, charms, feathers, leaves, etc., etc., etc. Create your own unique woven art piece in this one-day workshop.
Students will learn how to warp a simple lap loom, weave either a small tapestry or bag, and learn finishing techniques. After learning some traditional tapestry weaving techniques during class on a small sampler, each student will start weaving their own unique project using a wide variety of materials. Students will take home their sampler and project as well as the lap loom and accessories.
No experience is necessary.
An assortment of weaving materials, warp yarn, lap loom, tapestry beater, and needles will be provided in class. Students may choose to bring additional materials to add to their woven piece.
